Heatwave to spare Chennai, Tamil Nadu to remain hot

May 5, 2016 1:11 PM |

chennai mainHeatwave is not likely for another two weeks in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu. The maximum temperature will be below or near normal over several places of the state with Chennai expected to experience temperature around 38-39°C for next few days.

While the heatwave kept sweeping across several parts of the country including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh over last few weeks, it continued to spare parts of Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai. The trend is expected to continue for another couple of weeks in Madurai, Salem and other parts of Tamil Nadu.

Temperature settling in high 30s is normal for this southern state during this time. People residing in the interior parts are used to heatwave. However, the favourable southeasterly winds along with timely arrival of sea breeze will help in restricting the temperature from rising. Though hot and humid weather would prevail in the state. Significant spike in temperature is unlikely during next few days.
