Pre-Monsoon rains lash Bhubaneswar, Odisha; to intensify further

March 8, 2017 1:21 PM |

Odisha Rains

For the last many days, dry and hot weather has been prevailing over many parts of Odisha including its capital, Bhubaneswar. So much so that the maximum temperatures were settling a few notches above normal.

The reason for these weather conditions can be attributed to the prolonged dry spell and absence of any significant weather system.

However, during the last 24 hours, Bhubaneswar along with several other parts of the system have recorded light rain and thundershowers activity. These rains can be attributed to a trough which is extending from West Assam up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

In fact, today also, several parts of Odisha including Bhubaneswar have been recording light to moderate rains since morning.  In span of 3 hours from 08:30 am to 11:30 am, Balasore recorded 32 mm of rainfall, Chandbali 9 mm, Paradip 7 mm, Puri 3 mm and Kendujhargarh 4 mm.

Due to these ongoing rain activity, pleasant weather conditions are prevailing over the region. Besides this, the temperature over Bhubaneswar is presently hovering around 23°C.
