Rain in Telangana to keep heatwave in check

April 28, 2016 6:10 PM |

Hyderabad rainIt is the first pocket to witness heatwave conditions in the country, way back in March. This was one pocket which was reeling under intense heatwave conditions early in March and continued to do so till April. However, we saw some relief from heat in the state during last 2 days.

The state of Telangana witnesses a large variation in rainfall distribution, just like Marathwada and many other places in the country.  This time around only the upper half of the state received pre-Monsoon rains. The districts to be affected include Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Rangareddy and Hyderabad.

Here’s a look at the rainfall figures in several parts of Telangana during last 24 hours.

The state had received good pre-Monsoon showers on April 26 as well. In Karimnagar district, Thimmapur recorded 22.3 mm, Ganagadhara 16 mm and Mustabad 12.4 mm. Saroornagar in Rangareddy recorded 23.4 mm.

After two days of rain, temperatures have come down by a couple of notches. On Wednesday, Ramagundam recorded 42.8°C, Nizamabad 43.5°C ans Hyderabad 40.8°C.
