Rains to reduce over Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Although Southwest Monsoon has already withdrawn from most of the regions of India, Andaman and Nicobar Island is one such region which has been receiving good rains from past few days.

Moderate rains at many places along with heavy spells at a few areas are going on over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

A cyclonic circulation persisted over southwest Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast along with a trough that was extending up to Andaman and Nicobar Islands that was giving these moderate showers.

However, in last 24 hours, another cyclonic circulation has formed over the Arakan Coast. As per the experts, this cyclonic circulation is expected to intensify further and move towards Myanmar.

As this weather system is expected to move away from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, this will lead to reduced rain activities over the areas and 2-3 days after, rain intensity over the Islands is likely to curtail down.

As per Skymet Weather, this is considered to be a favorable period for the formation of a tropical cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. However, as of now, no such intense weather system has been formed. Moreover, formation of occasional cyclonic circulation is giving decent showers over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

However, sea surface temperatures are still warmer over the region hence, likelihood of formation of intense weather system can also be not ruled out completely.
