As on 26th August 2016, Maize has been sown in an area of 82.86 lakh hectares that is up by more than 12% from last year acreage of 73.95 lh. This year, Maize area is also up by 12.7% than the normal in season area of 73.50 lh. Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana are the key producer of Maize.
