NASA shares stunning video of Sun’s magnetic field

February 2, 2016 12:46 PM |

US space agency, NASA has released the first video model showing how exactly the sun’s magnetic field behaves. Understanding the magnetic field of the sun is an essential factor for future travel in deep space.

The video mainly showcases invisible magnetic lines where the Sun appears as a mass of energy in constant flux. Here the sun is constantly sending out fragments of magnetically-charged particles.

For making the video, NASA has combined computer simulations as well as some real-time observations for analyzing the behavior of material courses through the million-degree corona, which cannot be seen at all in visible light.

NASA Scientist Dean Pesnell says that it is hard to know where exactly is the magnetic field of the sun is created. It could either be deep inside the sun or a little close to the solar surface. To understand space’s nature throughout the solar system as a whole, it is a necessity to know what exactly drives the magnetic system.
