April 17, 2015 3:22 PM |

pileupA blizzard in the state of Wyoming in USA led to separate vehicular pile ups across the interstate 80 (I-80) corridor on Thursday morning. There has been a lot of snow around the capital city Cheyenne which has led to significant drop in visibility and temperature. The visibility dropped to a few hundred meters whereas the temperatures were sub-zero. Strong northerly winds of around 65 kmph made driving a harrowing experience.

There were three separate incidents of pile ups in which 22 pepple were injured. Six of them sustained serious injuries and are critical. The injured have been taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. No deaths have been reported so far.

According to the local authorities around 40 to 50 commercial vehicles along with 20 passenger vehicles are involved in the incidents. Interestingly all the three separate pile ups happened around the same location on the I-80.  The east bound lanes of I-80 will be closed until the road is cleared.
