MUST WATCH: From sun to snow in 24 hours; how Storm Niko tricked NYC

February 10, 2017 1:13 PM |

In the biggest turn of weather events, mother nature has tricked us all. While New York city was basking in warm weather on a perfectly sunny Wednesday, weather gods had something completely different in store for the New Yorkers.

The day of flip flops in a temperature of 60 degrees was transformed into snow day in a mere 24 hours. Record high temperatures were observed in the big apple giving residents very little time to take those snow boots and overcoats out of their closets.

While New Yorkers were basking in the sunny glory thinking spring had finally made a grand appearance, weather warnings were up everywhere regarding the arrival of a massive snow storm, the biggest for Northeast US this season.

This was the first day ever that New York City recorded over six inches of snow in a mere day after witnessing a 60-degree temperature. Due to the sudden snowstorm, a total whiteout was reported in New York City. One day you could see the building up front, the other day, well, nothing!

It was more like a scene from the iconic Disney movie Frozen when Queen Elsa casts a wintry spell over the always sunny Arendellle with a mere flick of a wrist in just about a few seconds. When we come to think about it, it seems like the furry groundhog wasn’t too wrong when it forecast six more weeks of winter!
