Moisture incursion from the Gulf of Mexico will inundate areas from Florida to Carolina coast on Tuesday. Locally heavy downpours could bring flash floods to some areas in west Cuba, eastern Florida Panhandle, southeastern Georgia, central and southeastern South Carolina and parts of eastern North Carolina. Adding to the moisture content over the region is the leftover moisture of tropical storm Erika.
Erika’s moisture will cause flooding across coastal parts of southeastern USA. The storm is expected to move northwards and merge with extra-tropical low pressure system. Rainfall of upto 100 mm is expected across the region. In addition to the downpours, sea conditions will be rough. This can result in waterspouts. The bulk of the activity will move northeastwards away from the southeastern states later this week. This will improve the weather from Florida to Carolinas. However, some left behind moisture could give spot rain and thunderstorms.
A high pressure system is currently leading to hot weather conditions across Northeast USA. There is a small chance that a low pressure system could develop near Carolina coast and intensify into a tropical storm later this week or the weekend.
