Probable tropical storm Earl in Atlantic likely to hit Mexico this week

August 2, 2016 11:22 AM |

Tropical Storm in AtlanticA tropical storm is gradually moving across the Caribbean Sea, which is likely to end the Atlantic tropical storm drought very soon. This disturbance in the Caribbean Sea will probably become the fifth tropical storm of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season.

At present, the storm system is situated south of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean island group, the Greater Antilles. Meteorologists across the world believe that there is a good chance for the tropical wave located over the central Caribbean Sea to intensify into a tropical storm or hurricane within next 48 hours.

If the system keeps organizing, it should become Tropical Storm Earl and could also become a hurricane before moving inland by Wednesday night.

The weather system is likely to bring pounding rains over Jamaica on Tuesday and the Cayman Islands during Tuesday night.

Once the tropical storm reaches the land, it will weaken. However, torrential rainfall and gusty winds will continue to affect the region till about Thursday.

Before the weekend, the system will move out in to the waters of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Thereafter, the system could strengthen further. We could expect a second landfall in the northeastern parts of Mexico by the weekend.

Skymet Weather will keep following its track and activities.
