Winter Storm Kayla is expected to bring snowfall and strong winds right from the Rockies to the Central Plains. Blizzard warnings have been issued for several places in the region. You can expect major travel disruption in parts of the Plains and Midwest.
On Monday, Kayla will bring snow and gusty winds from the Southern California Mountains to the Rockies.
The blizzard warnings are also in place for south-central Nebraska, north-central Kansas, and parts of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The jet stream took a southward plunge during the gone by weekend. By Monday, this is expected to trigger the development of a low-pressure area, east of the Rockies. The low-pressure system could intensify rapidly, bringing a swath of heavy snow and strong winds.
Impact of winter storm Kayla
The worst affected areas are likely to be parts of the central and southern Rockies, Central Plains, Upper Midwest and northern Great Lakes.
Flight delays and cancelations are likely in the following major airports:
Denver International Airport on Monday and possibly early Tuesday
Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport could be disrupted on Tuesday and possibly into early Wednesday.
Chicago O'Hare and Midway International Airports could witness delays from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday.
