Weather in the UK is set to plunge even more. Chillier weather is on cards for the nation. The already freezing Britain is forecasted to witness one of the coldest starts to winters after six years.

Mercury is expected to dip even below the -8°C mark with somewhat similar plunging temperatures foreseen for Wednesday night as well.

It was after mercury descended to -7.5C (18.5F) in South Newington, Oxfordshire on Monday, that England trembled in one of the iciest nights of autumn.

Although, as the Arctic freeze is likely to stiffen its grip, weather is expected to take a milder turn towards the end of the week.

The freezing weather could be life threatening hence the elderly people along with children are advised to take extra precautions against this chilly weather.

Moreover, a level-2 cold weather warning against increased health threat has been dispensed by the Met Office united with the Public Health England (PHE).

The Met Department states that time has arrived when people are advised to stay cautious against extreme cold weather as excessive winter chills do kill even at places where temperatures are not in their lowest.

Thursday could be said to officially mark the onset winters in the nation and as per the forecasters, this year’s winters could be colder than the previous. Moreover, due to high pressure in close proximity of the UK, this cold snap is even expected to continue through the next week.

Clear skies are forecasted in the south with cloudier skies in the north. Later the week, the south and the southwest is likely to witness extensive frosts. On the other hand, patchy cloud cover is expected elsewhere.

However, temperatures are also expected to climb off again by the end of this week before plunging down again by the weekend.

Tuesday night could be the coldest surpassing Monday’s chill whereas, Wednesday night may though have similar temperatures but will be less cold.

The temperatures dropped to -15°C in the year 2010 however, if the mercury settles below -7°C on Thursday, it will be said as the coldest start to winters ever then.
