Southern UK will face the brunt of a strengthening storm on Wednesday. This storm will produce heavy rain and strong winds. The storm will start affecting southern UK by Wednesday morning.
Major rainfall will occur through Wednesday morning across Greater London, East and Southeast England before it tapers off into showers during the afternoon. The heavy rain will hamper the morning commute in Exeter, Reading, London and Brighton. Rainfall totals of upto 25 mm will occur in many parts of Wales, southern Midlands and south England with isolated rainfall totals reaching upto 50 mm.
On the heels of the storm, strong north-northwesterly winds will blow across southern Wales and southwest England on Wednesday morning. Wind gust in excess of 65 kmph is expected with isolated gusts greater than 80 kmph. The strongest of the winds will be experienced across Cornwall and along the southern coast of England. These winds will be strong enough to cause sporadic power outages and travel disruptions during the worst of the storm which will last till midday Wednesday.
The winds will ease as the storm weakens and moves eastwards on Wednesday evening. This will end the threat of any wind related travel disruptions.
Tranquil conditions are expected to follow this storm in the region. In Scotland and Northern Ireland some showers can be expected later this week while warm and dry weather will be experienced across Wales and England.
