Madhya Pradesh mechanic invents car that runs on water

January 7, 2016 1:00 PM |

A mechanic based in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, has made headlines across the world for his ‘self-built’ car that runs on water. Raees Markani’s car runs on a fuel that costs him Rs. 10 to 20 per liter.

Using a Maruti 800 car, Raees built his own engine which runs on acetylene gas. The gas is already being used in various industries and portable lighting for miners. It took Raees six months and countless experiments to finally get the engine up and running.

A Chinese firm has approached Raees for the mass-scale development of this vehicle. But Raees has refused the offer and asked the firm representatives to set up the plant in his hometown. This translates into a ‘make in India’ manner of production and also guarantees jobs for the locals. Markani has already filed for a patent.

Environment friendly cars have become a worldwide rage with elite manufacturers like Tesla launching fuel-efficient modern vehicles for the public. At a time when climate change is pushing us to shift to renewable sources of energy, Raees Markani’s car is a timely and revolutionary package. Hopefully, the technology will pass all required tests and technological barriers to be launched as a car for the people of India who pay as much as Rs. 70 for a liter of petrol.
