Yesterday’s low-pressure area has weakened slightly and is lying over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts. The cyclonic circulation continues to persist and extends beyond 15,000 feet in height. The weather system may linger over the same area for the next 24 hours. Very unusual, but the system may retard a bit to shift eastward and get subsumed by the seasonal monsoon trough. Close on its heels, another system is expected to come up over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal parts of Odisha and West Bengal, making its initial presence as an upper-air cyclonic circulation over that area.

Under the influence of low pressure over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, weather activity will be focused more on North Madhya Pradesh and Central Uttar Pradesh. In the next 24 hours, scattered heavy rains are likely, and the places at risk will include Datia, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Panna, Rewa, Sagar, Nowgong and Jabalpur. Light to moderate rainfall is likely over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, covering Ratlam, Neemuch, Indore, Ujjain, Rajgarh, Dhar, Khargone and Khandwa.
