Low Pressure Area Over Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh ; Heavy Rainfall Over Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh
The low-pressure area lying over Gangetic West Bengal is likely to move over Jharkhand and South Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours. The system will shift further west over Madhya Pradesh in the subsequent 24 hours.
The cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure is covering West Bengal, Jharkhand, and adjoining regions. An east-west trough is extending across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh.
The most significant feature associated with this low pressure is an intense convergence zone located slightly ahead of the system's center. Deep convection in this zone is likely to cause heavy weather activity over Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. A spillover effect will also be observed over Madhya Pradesh and northern parts of Telangana. Intense weather activity is expected over the next three days, between 7th and 9th July 2025.
Heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers are likely over South Chhattisgarh and the Vidarbha region. Strong lightning storms and squally winds will accompany the inclement weather. The activity may turn hazardous in some localized pockets. These adverse conditions may extend to southeastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and northern Telangana, covering areas such as Sagar, Umaria, Jabalpur, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Nirmal, and Nizamabad.

Areas at risk include Rajnandgaon, Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, Balod, and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh. The entire Vidarbha region and contiguous parts of Marathwada will witness intense weather activity. Heavy rainfall is likely in Nagpur, Brahmapuri, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Washim, Amravati, and Akola. Isolated places may experience very strong winds, torrential rains, and severe lightning, posing a risk to crops and other assets.
