Monsoon Likely To Advance Over Eastern States Next Week

However, the monsoon got stalled later, both on the western and eastern side. It has not travelled beyond Mumbai on the West Coast and Balurghat, Darjeeling, Kalimpong on the eastern front. Normally, the monsoon covers entire West Bengal and reaches deep inland over Bihar and Jharkhand by 15th June. Conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of monsoon sometime next week.
A fresh monsoon system is coming up over the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 14th June. This will become more organized in the subsequent 48 hours. It will traverse along Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and reach the outskirts of Rajasthan.

The wind pattern will change rather early to the easterly, as normally seen during the monsoon. However, the rains will follow more significantly from 16th June onwards. Most parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar will receive monsoon showers between 16th and 18th June.
Accordingly, the monsoon arrival will coincide around these dates over the eastern states. As the weather system travels further west across the central parts, the monsoon current is likely to sweep entire Chhattisgarh, East Uttar Pradesh, and East Madhya Pradesh in the subsequent 48 hours. Southwest Monsoon is likely to reach these parts between 19th and 21st June. The monsoon stream will reach closer to West Uttar Pradesh, North and West Madhya Pradesh, and the outskirts of Delhi and East Rajasthan by the end of next week.
