Rainy Week For Mumbai: Heavy Rainfall Likely

Yes, the onset of monsoon was robust on 26th May 2025, with typical Mumbai downpour on 25th and 26th May 2025. Over the last five days, the city has received just a trickle of rainfall. Between 01st and 12th June, Santacruz has recorded a total of about 90mm rainfall against the monthly normal of 493.1mm. The city is likely to be drenched soon and observe heavy rains, intermittently, over the next seven days.
Back-to-back weather systems over the Bay of Bengal will trigger this weather activity. Earlier, a cyclonic circulation formed off the Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coast. The system moved inland and is now marked over Telangana and North Karnataka. The convergence zone is placed ahead of the system, along the Western Ghats. Heavy rains have lashed Coastal Karnataka covering Karwar, Honavar, and Mangalore. Tomorrow, the circulation will shift closer to South Madhya Maharashtra and North Karnataka. The convergence zone will spread along Konkan & Goa.
Mumbai is likely to have heavy rains for three days between 13th and 15th June. The intensity will be more on 13th June than the other two days. Rains will spill over to the lee side of the Ghats and cover most parts of Madhya Maharashtra. The complete Konkan belt from Sindhudurg – Ratnagiri – Raigad – Mumbai will have incessant downpour tomorrow. Heavy rains will reach Goa and North Coastal Karnataka as well. The next two days, on 14th and 15th June, the rains may not be as heavy over and around Mumbai. Yet, moderate intermittent rains with a few heavy spells are quite likely during this period.
The Bay of Bengal will host another monsoon system, as a cyclonic circulation on 14th June. This system will become more organized over the next 48 hours and also move inland across Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Once again, the Konkan region in general, and Mumbai in particular, will have another round of heavy rains between 16th and 18th June. The strength and spread of rains could be more on 17th and 18th June. As the weather system steers toward North Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the rains will ease out over Mumbai for the next two days, on 19th and 20th June. It could be a temporary and brief pause, and moderate showers may commence again, starting 21st June.

During the upcoming wet spell, the city may add about 200mm of rainfall over 5–6 days, taking the total to beyond halfway mark for the month of June. Mumbai stands a chance to catch up with the normal rains in the remaining days of the month.
