The southwest monsoon withdrawal line passes through 32.5°N/72.5°E, Gurdaspur, Chandigarh, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Dholpur, Udaipur, Deesa, Naliya and 23.0°N/67.8°E.

The deep depression crossed the north Andhra Pradesh coast, southwest of Kalingapatnam, between 11:00 PM IST on September 23 and 1:00 AM IST on September 24. At the time of landfall, maximum sustained winds were 55–65 kmph, gusting to 75 kmph.

At 5:30 AM IST on September 24, the deep depression was centred over north coastal Andhra Pradesh near 18.3°N and 83.7°E, around 50 km west of Kalingapatnam, 80 km north-northeast of Visakhapatnam and 170 km southwest of Gopalpur.

The system is likely to move northwestwards while maintaining deep-depression intensity for about 12 hours. Subsequently, it is expected to move north-northwestwards and weaken gradually during the following 24 hours.

A trough extends from the centre of the deep depression to the Gulf of Thailand across the central Bay of Bengal and north Andaman Sea, reaching up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

A Western Disturbance persists as a middle-tropospheric trough, with its axis near 81°E to the north of 28°N at about 5.8 km above mean sea level.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level.
