24 July, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

July 23, 2015 7:03 PM |

A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India. It will start affecting Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Friday evening. This weather system will act in tandem with the Monsoon trough to bring rain and thundershowers in the plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR. Some rain likely Saturday as well.

We can see that the Monsoon trough is extending from Bikaner in Rajasthan up to East central Bay of Bengal. It seems to be passing through Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, Ranchi in Jharkhand and Kolkata in West Bengal. Scattered rainfall likely all along the trough line.

The cyclonic circulation over Gujarat is moving away, but remnants of the system are still capable of bringing light rain in Saurashtra.

The cyclonic circulation over here will bring widespread rain in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidharbha.

We can see another cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal. This weather system will be responsible for some rainfall over West Bengal and Jharkhand. Southern states of Northeast India will receive scattered rainfall tomorrow.

The offshore trough will be active all along the West Coast. In fact, intensity of rain will be on the rise now.

Maximums in the northern plains will decrease by Saturday, in view of some rain the previous day. In rest of the country we expect temperatures to remain near normal levels.
