Gujarat Weather Update 25 July: Heavy rains in flood hit Deesa, Banaskantha, Rajkot, Ahmedabad

July 25, 2017 1:37 PM |

Flood situation across Gujarat worsened further as vigorous Monsoon conditions continue to batter Gujarat with more heavy rains. Dhanera, Deesa, Banaskantha and Tharad are the worst hit regions. Moreover, heavy rains in Rajasthan have further added to the flood fury, with tons of water released from Dantiwada and Dharoi dams that have also inundated several villages of Gujarat.

Over 25,000 people have been evacuated so far from the several districts of north and central parts of the state.  Authorities have already issued high alert with more than 20 highways submerged under water. More teams of NDRF have been sent to the affected region, along with air sorties from Air Force.

Incessant rains and strong winds have been hampering the rescue operations. Train traffic has also been hit hard as most of them are either running late or cancelled.

According to weathermen, we do not expect any relief for the next 24 hours as heavy rains will continue over the state. The low pressure area continues to sustain its strength over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat, keeping conditions conducive for more rains.

During the next 24 hours, Banaskantha, Idar, Bhuj, Patan, Surendranagar, Kandla, Ahmedabad and Deesa will see heavy rains and squally winds. Thereafter, rains will reduce by July 27 but moderate rains will keep the flood hit situation grim over Gujarat.
