At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Bathinda, Hisar, Aligarh, Sultanpur, Nawada, Purulia, Midnapore, Contai and further southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
As a result, Monsoon remained vigorous over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Whereas, active Monsoon conditions continued over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh, parts of Jharkhand and Assam.
Major rainfall share came from Silchar that recorded 142 mm, followed by Najibabad 104 mm and Long Island 83 mm.
As on September 3, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency remained stagnant at -6%. Division wise, South Peninsula is rain surplus by 7%, Central India is deficient by a mere -1%. Meanwhile, East & Northeast India remains highest rain deficient pocket at -24%, followed by Northwest India at -4%.

During the next 24 hours, vigorous Monsoon conditions over northern parts of Odisha would give moderate to heavy with isolated very heavy spells.
Also, Monsoon will remain active over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Southeast Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, north and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. All these places may see light to moderate with few heavy showers.
Meantime, Normal Monsoon conditions will continue over Bihar, rest of Odisha, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Delhi, eastern parts of Haryana and Punjab. These regions are likely to record light to moderate rains.
Rest of the country would see subdued Monsoon activities.
