Weather Forecast April 7: Rain in Kolkata, Bihar and Jharkhand, dust storm in Delhi, Punjab

A feeble Western Disturbance is approaching the North Himalayan region. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation now lies over Northwest Haryana and adjoining Punjab. Jammu and Kashmir along with Himachal Pradesh would witness very light rain and thundershowers. Whereas, Uttarakhand might witness light to moderate rain and thundershower activities accompanied with strong winds.

Coming over to the plains, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North and Central Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh might witness dust storm and thundershower activities for a short period during late afternoon or evening. With this, marginal drop in day temperatures could be seen over the affected areas.

While a trough running from Northwest India is extending up to West Bengal across Jharkhand. Also, north-south higher-level trough also persists over East India. Hence, fairly wide spread rain and thundershower activities with isolated squalls and lightning is expected over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.

Also, in Northeast India, pre-Monsoon activities are prevailing over the region. A Cyclonic Circulation persists over South Assam and adjoining Meghalaya. Also, a trough from Bangladesh is extending up to Arunachal Pradesh. Therefore, rain and thundershower with squally winds and moderate lightning would be a sight at many places. Meghalaya, South Assam and adjoining Tripura would witness isolated heavy rains.

In Central parts of the country like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh temperatures might drop marginally because of light rains. While, Vidarbha would continue to maintain heatwave type conditions amidst isolated rains. Dry weather is likely over Gujarat, Konkan and Goa.

Down South, a trough is extending from North Telangana up to Kerala across Karnataka. Isolated rain and thundershower activities are a possibility over Telangana, Karnataka, parts of Kerala and extreme coastal stations of Tamil Nadu. Due to a confluence zone over North Andhra Pradesh, rain and thundershower activities are expected in the coastal parts of the state. Most of the southern peninsular states would witness hot and humid weather conditions.
