Weather Forecast Aug 5: Monsoon rains ahead for Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Vadodara

Starting with Central India, an off-shore Trough is extending from Gujarat coast to Kerala. Due to this system, heavy rains are likely to continue along Konkan and Goa coast while Mumbai will see rains of decreased intensity. The rest parts of Maharashtra are likely to receive light to moderate rains. Apart from this, an upper air Trough is extending from Gujarat to Northwest Bay of Bengal. Also, the axis of Monsoon Trough is extending across North Madhya Pradesh. Under the influence of these systems, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will experience light to moderate rains at many places. Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri and Morena might experience heavy showers at scattered places.

The eastern parts of Gujarat including Vadodara will receive moderate rains and thundershowers while Saurashtra and Kutch will experience light rains at scattered places.
Coming on to East and Northeast India, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over Northern parts of Bay of Bengal which is likely to intensify more. Under the influence of this system, Odisha, Jharkhand and parts of Gangetic West Bengal will be affected by light to moderate rains and thundershowers at many places. Rain intensity will now increase in Bihar as well. The Northeastern states are likely to remain warm and humid. Light to moderate rains and thundershowers will occur at scattered places. Kolkata might see spells of light to moderate rains along with a fall in day temperatures.

Talking about North and Northwest India, a feeble Western Disturbance can be seen over Northeast parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, Uttarakhand will see moderate spells of rains and thundershowers. Heavy showers are likely over Nainital, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Dehradun. Himachal Pradesh and foothills over Punjab will also see light spells of rains at scattered places. West Rajasthan, rest parts of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, however, will remain dry.

Also, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over Southwest parts of Uttar Pradesh and adjoining region. Now, the rainfall activity will be increasing over Uttar Pradesh, eastern parts of Rajasthan and Haryana. Places like Lucknow, Bahraich, Shajahanpur, Bareilly etc might see heavy showers at some places. Since, the western end of Monsoon Trough is shifting northwards, places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Panipat and Ambala, might see some good rains.

Lastly in South India, the off-shore Trough will lead to increase in rain activities over coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Northern parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka will also see heavy showers at many places while southern parts of Kerala will experience moderate rains and thundershowers. Interior parts of Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will also experience light to moderate rains and thundershowers. However, southern parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema will see light rains. Chennai will remain dry and humid. Bengaluru’s weather will remain comfortable with spells of light rain. However, Tamil Nadu is expected to remain dry.
