Weather Forecast for June 2: Rain in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced in the southern parts of the country. Simultaneously, it has also made an onset over parts of Manipur and Mizoram. At present, the Northern Limit of Monsoon is passing through Shirali, Hassan, Mysuru, Kodaikanal and Tuticorin.

Besides this, conditions remain favourable for the further advancement of Monsoon in some more parts of Northeast India, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during the next 3 days.

With the advancement of Southwest Monsoon in Northeast India and a cyclonic circulation over Assam and Meghalaya, rain activity is expected to increase over the northeastern states. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is marked over North Rajasthan. A trough is extending from this system to West Bengal across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

In wake of these systems, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal including Kolkata is likely to record scattered rain and thundershower activity along with lightning strikes and strong winds.

In fact, isolated dust storm or thundershower activity in isolated parts of the northwestern plains cannot be ruled out. However, the weather is expected to remain hot.
Weather in Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would remain dry.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Madhya Pradesh and a trough is extending from this up to Tamil Nadu. With this, isolated activity is likely along the well-marked trough line over some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

However, Rajasthan and Gujarat would be dry. In fact, isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh may also reel under heatwave like conditions. A wind confluence zone is also prevailing along the west coast of the country which is likely to give rains over Konkan and Goa region including Mumbai.

Down South, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Southeast Arabian Sea. Along with this trough running, we expect scattered light to moderate rains over Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, a feeble cyclonic circulation is also persisting over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Thus, the coastal stations of these regions may record light showers.
Major cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai are also likely to witness rains.
