Weather Forecast July 29: Heavy rains in Mumbai, light rains ahead for Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru

Starting with Central India, the axis of Monsoon Trough is passing across central parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and then to Northwest Bay of Bengal. In association with this system, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over Central parts of Rajasthan while another Cyclonic Circulation lies over central parts of Chhattisgarh. Due to the presence of these systems, Vidarbha and parts of South Chhattisgarh will experience heavy showers at many places. While remaining parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will experience light to moderate rains and thundershowers. Southern parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat including Kutch will also experience moderate spells of rains and thundershower at many places. Due to active Monsoon conditions, Konkan and Goa will experience moderate to heavy showers at many places. The city of Mumbai too will experience a few moderate spells of rain and thundershowers.

Coming on to East India, where yesterday’s Low-Pressure Area over Jharkhand has weakened but another Cyclonic Circulation has developed over Northwest parts of Bay of Bengal. Due to the presence of this system, Odisha and parts of Jharkhand will experience light to moderate rains and thundershower. While weather will remain warm in Bihar and West Bengal. Due to prevalence, of moist winds from Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rains and thundershowers will continue over many parts of Northeast states with isolated heavy showers over Nagaland, Manipur, upper Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh. Kolkata will remain warm and humid with chances of light rains.

Talking about North India, here a Western Disturbance lies over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining Pakistan. Due to the presence of this system, scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will experience light rains and thundershowers. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, rest Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan would remain mainly dry and warm. However, short spells of light rains can be observed at isolated places.

Lastly in South India, due to the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation over Central parts of Chhattisgarh and another Cyclonic Circulation over northern parts of Bengal of Bengal, Telangana and northern parts of Andhra Pradesh will have moderate to heavy rain and thundershower at many places. However, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Kerala are likely to remain warm and dry. Chennai might remain dry and warm while Bengaluru will remain humid yet comfortable with chances of light spells.
