Weather Forecast June 13: Very Severe Cyclone Vayu all set to make landfall, heavy rains, strong winds in Porbandar

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Vayu is expected to hit Gujarat coast by wee hours of June 13. It would then give heavy to extremely heavy rains over the coastal districts of Gujarat such as Veraval, Porbandar, Junagarh, Dwarka, Amreli and Rajkot. Along with this, sea conditions too will be rough to very rough over the Gujarat coast. The wind speed will be around 140-150 kmph gusting to 170 kmph at the time of landfall near Porbandar. Konkan and Goa would be witnessing light to moderate rains with one or two intense spells. Scattered rains are expected over Madhya Maharashtra and at few places of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. While, light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated dust storm is a possibility over South and East Rajasthan.

Down South, moderate south westerlies would continue to give good rains along the West coast right from Kerala to Karnataka coast. Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands would see fairly widespread rain and thundershowers. Whereas, rain activities would remain less over Interior Peninsula with isolated rains over Interior Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In East and Northeast India, a Cyclonic Circulation is over South Bangladesh and adjoining areas. Thus, good rains are expected in Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. Whereas, scattered rains will be a sight over rest of Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and parts of East Bihar like Supaul and Purnea.
The flow of easterly winds would help in bringing down the temperatures by two to three degrees in Bihar, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh and would be in the range of 37°C-44°C.

Finally, up in the North, the Western Disturbance has moved away and induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan. Thus, isolated rain and thundershowers might be a sight in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Also, isolated dust storm and rain activities can be seen in parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Whereas, weather in Uttar Pradesh will be almost dry.
Heat wave would abate from Delhi and NCR, parts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Still, isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana would continue to witness heat wave conditions. Temperatures are likely to drop over Rajasthan still heat wave conditions will be a sight at many parts of Rajasthan.
