Weather Forecast May 24: Rains, dust storm in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and UP, heat wave in MP

May 23, 2019 7:57 PM |

Starting with North India, a fresh Western Disturbance can be seen over Jammu and Kashmir that has induced Cyclonic Circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab.
Due to these systems, we expect widespread rain and thundershower activity over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Scattered rains are possible over Punjab, while isolated thundershower and dust storm activity is forecast for parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. These rains will lead to a marginal drop in temperatures over these areas.
Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi will continue to remain in ‘moderate to poor’ category.

Coming on to Central India, here isolated light rains are forecast for North Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Weather of Gujarat, rest Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will remain dry and hot. At the same time, heat wave conditions will persist over many parts of East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

Talking about East and Northeast India, the region is gearing up for fresh rains. Here two prominent Cyclonic Circulations can be seen affecting the region- one is over Bihar and Jharkhand, another can be marked over Bangladesh and adjoining South Assam region. Therefore, we expect heavy to very heavy rain and thundershower over Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura as well over Sub-Himalayan west Bengal and Sikkim. Light to moderate rain is likely over the rest of Northeast India.

Some places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal might also receive rains. East Uttar Pradesh however will remain dry. Here, heat wave like conditions will continue to pester the residents.

Lastly in South India, a trough is extending from Bihar to South Interior Karnataka across Telangana. Thus, scattered light to moderate rains are possible over Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Few moderate spells are possible over Andaman and Nicobar as well. Despite rains, heat wave conditions will continue to persist over parts of Telangana.
