Delhi May Have Few Showers For Third Consecutive Day, Mostly Towards Night

March 3, 2024 12:49 PM |

Capital city Delhi and NCR are likely to have a hat-trick of winter showers. Earlier, all the observatories in the NCR recorded some rains or the other, late at night on Friday and Saturday. As expected, heavy rains eluded most parts, but light showers were widespread.  Pitampure and Pragati Maidan recorded moderate rainfall of 20-30mm, in the past 24 hours, more than the normal for the month. Base observatory Safdarjung, airport observatory Palam, Ridge and Pusa measured 5-10mm of rainfall. All is not yet over. Leftover rains, as an offshoot of remnants of the weather systems, still haunt the city and suburbs. A partly cloudy sky with a peep of mild sunshine is likely during the day. Rain and showers will catch up, during late night or wee hours, just like the previous two occasions.

Western disturbance still persists over the hilly region of North India. Induced cyclonic circulation, albeit diffused a bit, is marked over Northeast Rajasthan and Haryana. An east-west trough keeps proximity to the national capital. It is still favourable for remnant effect towards late night.

With two days of rain and clouds, the temperatures have dropped by 4-5 degrees. Mercury level during the day has plunged below normal by 2-3 degrees. However, the minimum temperature has risen to go in the low teens, close to the normal. These standards are likely to be maintained over the next 2-3 days.
