At 259 mm, Bhubaneswar breaks rain records, more showers ahead

August 1, 2023 4:23 PM |

The city of Bhubaneswar has seen some very intense rainfall activities with the city recording 259 mm. These rainfall activities are highest rains ever in 24 hours for Bhubaneswar.

In 1974, Bhubaneswar recorded 155 mm of rain in 24 hours in August which was the highest until 2018 wherein the city recorded 173.8 mm on August 7, 2018. The recent spell has broken this record as well making it the rainiest day in August since records exist.

More heavy showers are likely over the city of Bhubaneswar as well as the state of Odisha as the depression over the north Bay of Bengal persists and it will take some time to cross the coast, thus, the system will continue giving rainfall over Odisha as well as Bhubaneswar.

Rains will be heavier over these areas for 24 hours, becoming moderate thereafter and then subsequently reduce.
