Back to back weather systems to keep Monsoon active over Madhya PradeshThe state of Madhya Pradesh observed good rains so far. In fact, the month of July has been good in terms of Monsoon rains.

At present, Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing a rainfall surplus of 39 percent, making it fall under the excess rains category.

Since the beginning of the month of August, the state has been receiving good rains. In fact, rainfall intensity has increased during the last two to three days. Several areas have been receiving more than 50 mm of rainfall.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Ratlam recorded a whopping 185 mm of rain followed by Jabalpur where 87 mm rainfall was received. Other areas to have observed good Monsoon rains include Guna 69 mm, Khandwa 54 mm, Malanjkhand 51 mm, Rajgarh 49 mm, Indore 35 mm, Betul 31 mm, and Bhopal 26 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and its adjoining areas. Also, the axis of the Monsoon trough is passing through Madhya Pradesh.

During the next 24 to 48 hours, the weather system may intensify into a low pressure area giving more rains over Madhya Pradesh. The weather system may move towards Rajasthan region thereafter.

Southwest Monsoon will remain active over the state even after the movement of the system as the cyclonic circulation which is currently in the Bay of Bengal may move inland and give moderate to heavy Monsoon rains over Madhya Pradesh. Thus, good rainfall will continue over Madhya Pradesh for quite some time now.
