Bangalore likely to receive double the October rainfall

rain bangalore CroppedOctober has been fantastic for Bangalore in terms of rain. The city, so far has received 308.2 mm of rain against the monthly average of 161.7 mm. And with some more rain forecast during the remaining days of the month, there is high probability that the city is going to double its October rainfall figures.

Though, Bangalore observes its bulk of rain during the Southwest Monsoon season, good amounts of rain can also be observed during the Northeast Monsoon due to its proximity with the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The first week of the month had brought some very good rain in Bangalore, with 15 mm being observed on October 6, 32 mm on October 7, 52 mm on October 8 and 63 mm on October 9. Thereafter a lull was observed for almost two weeks. But it again picked up towards the last week.

The city witnessed a whopping 55 mm of rain on October 25 (Saturday) and 6 mm on October 26. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India light afternoon showers are expected in the city for the remaining days of the month.

In view of the rainfall, maximums are recording about 2 degrees below normal of 29°C, while minimums are staying close to normal of 18°C. The temperatures are going to prevail for another couple of days in the city.
