Many parts of East Bihar and adjoining areas have been continuously observing moderate rains and isolated heavy spells since last few days.

Similarly, the last 24 hours were no different and Purnea recorded 151 mm of rainfall, Supaul 116 mm, Muzzafarpur 42.2 mm, Bhagalpur 9.5 mm, Chapra 2 mm and Patna 0.7 mm.

The region of Nepal has been witnessing flooding conditions with the death toll increasing to 36. In the last 24 hours as railway tracks and main roads have been swamped completely in water.

Moreover, heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in Nepal throwing life out of gear. Also, these incessant rains have worsened the flood situation over Bihar as several rivers including Koshi, Bagmati and others are likely to cross the danger mark.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen prevailing over East Bihar. Due to this, moderate rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining areas for the next 24 to 36 hours. Places such as Purnea, Supaul, Araria, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Champaran, and Kishanganj may continue to observe moderate rains along with few heavy spells at one or two places during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Nepal may continue to observe moderate to heavy showers at a few places which might intensify the threat of flooding over the eastern districts of Bihar due to the inflow of water. Few areas remain flooded with NDRF coming into play for relief and rescue operations. Thus, people are advised to take prior caution and care.
