Chennai rains have once again begun to drench parts of the city. According to Skymet Weather, few patches of thunderclouds had built up over Chennai around late afternoon that gave some intense thundershowers over the city.
Weathermen conditions remain favourable for rains as easterly wave are still strengthening over the region. As a result, few pockets of Chennai such as Tambaram and adjoining areas of Minambakkam might see some intense rains.
Meanwhile, light rain and thundershowers are expected over rest of the places. But as these thundercloud patches are small, thus we do not expect Chennai rains to last for a longer duration and in an hour or so they will fade away.
In wake of these showers, weather has gone extremely pleasant. Not only this, nearby areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh have recorded some heavy to very heavy rains.
However, these rains would cease by December 6 and we expect significant reduction in rains over Chennai as well as other coastal districts. But scattered rains are likely to continue over interior districts until December 6.
After prolonged dry spells, good Monsoon rains returned to city during the last 48 hours. Chennai has been battling extreme rainfall deficiency this Northeast Monsoon season. Although there is still a month to go for curtains down for Northeast Monsoon, the city would not be able to cover up the deficiency.
