Chennai rains have remained on the backseat for quite some time now. So much so that the region has been witnessing dry weather conditions for a long time. During the month of January, Chennai rains remained far away. There were just a mere two days when the city recorded rainfall activity, even then, rains were very light in nature.
During the month of January, there were areas in the state of Tamil Nadu where heavy rain was observed but other areas had remained dry.
Now, rain gods are all set to bestow some rain kindness over the state of Tamil Nadu along with some areas of Chennai. However, these showers will not be as intense in nature.
A cyclonic circulation is persisting over southern parts of Tamil Nadu. Easterly waves are also gaining strength. Thus, scattered rains are expected over south and central parts of Tamil Nadu. Light rainfall activity is also expected over Chennai.
These rainfall activities are expected to occur on February 6 as well as 7. Thereafter, weather will become dry over the region.
Due to these rainfall activities over Chennai, the maximum temperature is expected to observe a marginal drop. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures will witness a slight increase. However, major change in temperatures may not be seen over the region.
