Chennai rains to continue, India Australia WC match may get affected

October 6, 2023 3:31 PM |

With the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from many parts, the city of Chennai started to see rain. Though Northeast Monsoon comes in later precursor rains begin over South India, particularly Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, during the last three days, Chennai has been seeing rains on a daily basis. The rains are in association with the Cyclonic Circulation over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining North Tamil Nadu. Also, a trough is extending from the system in Bangladesh along the East Coast.

Therefore, rains will continue even on Sunday when the city will host an important World Cup game, India's first and that too against Australia. Thus, it looks like rainfall may play a spoilsport in the game. Most showers will be seen during the latter half of the day, which has been the pattern. Rains will not be heavy but definitely may cause interruptions as such.
