Except for the initial days of March, the weather across the northern plains of the country had remained dry. This had led to significant rise in the temperatures across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.

In fact, during the last 24 hours, day temperatures settled above normal by 1-3 degrees in early 30s over most parts of the region. Bright sunshine along the day ushered in the summer-like feeling among the people.

Now, once again, we can expect some relief from the scorching weather. However, the respite will be a brief one. All thanks to the fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining North Pakistan that has also induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab.

With this, weather will become cloudy over Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab during the next 24 hours. One or two short and sharp spell of thundershowers also cannot be ruled out. These weather systems could also trigger gusty winds over few parts of Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana.

Also with the change in wind pattern to warm and humid easterlies, night temperatures will witness an increase.

These thundershowers will basically cover the foothills of Punjab and Haryana like Amritsar, Pathankot, Nawanshahr, Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Karnal. Few parts of Delhi also stands a chance to witness thundershowers in next 24 hours.

Thereafter, as the system moves away, we can expect a drop in both the maximums and minimums March 24 onwards but weather will continue to be warm and sunny.
