Colaba surpasses monthly mean, receives 146 mm in 24 hours

Mumbai RainsMumbai rains have displayed a power-packed performance during the past few days. While it seemed difficult for the city to receive rains in double digits a few days ago, Monsoon showers picked up pace giving residents what they had been asking for.

However, these rains soon became a nightmare as the maximum city continued to receive heavy showers for five consecutive days wreaking havoc over the daily life of Mumbaikars. Traffic snarls and waterlogging have only made matters worse.

During the last 24 hours, while Santa Cruz observatory recorded a whopping 104 mm of rain, Colaba received 145.8 mm of rainfall. This means that the Colaba observatory recorded over 40 mm more rains than Santa Cruz.

With these rains, the rainfall amounts for Colaba have reached the 500 mm rainfall mark. The monthly rainfall for Colaba stands at 324 mm, which means Colaba has received about 180 mm more rains than usual.

In fact, this year, Colaba observatory has received very good rains this year. More rains are likely over the city during the next 24 hours. However, the intensity will not be as high as today. The possibility of heavy spells of rain during the next 24 hours also cannot be ruled out.
