Combination of two systems to revive rain in Maharashtra around Oct 17, light rain to continue until then

The weather system that was triggering rain until now has now moved away due to which the weather activities in Maharashtra have lessened. For the next three days, there are chances of only light rains with a few moderate spells in South Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa.

According to our weather experts, rain would be light in Maharashtra for the next 72 hours. However, a revival is likely around October 17, wherein a combination of two weather systems would enhance the rainfall activity.

A Trough would be extending from Madhya Pradesh up to Madhya Maharashtra across Vidarbha along with a Confluence Zone likely to develop over Maharashtra around 500 HPA.

Both the systems would work in tandem and bring in moderate showers for Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. South Konkan and Goa may also see some good rains during this period.

Mumbai may see light to moderate rain with short intense spells on October 19 and 20, while Pune stands a chance to witness good showers from October 18 to 20.

Since the beginning of October, good rains have been lashing the meteorological division of Madhya Maharashtra, which is rain surplus by 31% (from October 1 to 13). The divisions of Marathwada and Konkan and Goa too have managed to stand in the normal category with a deficiency of just 4% (+/-19 considered normal). The only exception is the region of Vidarbha that has is rain deficient by a huge margin of 77% since the commencement of post Monsoon season.
