On December 4, complete dry weather conditions were observed across the country. Such weather conditions during this season are rarely witnessed, as December is the month when Western Disturbances affect North India, giving rain and snow over the region. While in the south, Northeast Monsoon is active and gives rain over the southern peninsula.
This is also that time of year, when several cyclonic disturbances occur in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, giving weather over the coastal parts of the country.
As reiterated by Skymet Meteorology Division in India earlier, nothing much is happening weather wise. In the last week there hasn’t been a single active Western Disturbance which could affect the temperatures or bring rain in North India. On the other hand, Northeast Monsoon has also been disappointing, as minimal rain has been observed in the past couple of days.
The weather is expected to prevail in the country for another two to three days. However, South India, particularly Tamil Nadu, can expect light rain on December 7, which is likely to increase in intensity by December 8.
In the absence of rain, day temperatures have gone up in Tamil Nadu, while minimums are observing a drop. On December 4, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in Chennai was 30.3°C and 20.1°C, respectively, Similarly Cuddalore witnessed maximum settle at 30°C, while the minimum recorded 19.9°C. Nagapattinam observed 28.6°C as maximum and 21.4°C as the minimum.
