Cyclone Circulation in Gujarat

Gujarat has been under the influence of rainfall activities courtesy the Low-Pressure Area that brewed in the Arabian Sea few days back. In the past 24 hours, the southern districts of Gujarat witnessed scattered light to moderate rains with isolated light rains over the eastern part such as Vadodara which recorded 12.4 mm of rains. Whereas, Porbandar and Veraval saw 11 mm and 5.4 mm of rains.

As per our experts, light rains with one or two moderate spells are expected to continue over the southern and the eastern parts of Gujarat for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Cyclone Hikka which is over Northeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea is likely to move away further. Therefore, its impact will be negligible. However, another Cyclonic Circulation is expected to form over South Gujarat around September 25.

Thus, rain activities are expected to pick up pace around September 26 or 27. Between September 26- 28, few moderate spells with isolated heavy spells can be seen. During this time, rain activities will revive over Saurashtra and Kutch region. The Kutch region which is witnessing subdued Monsoon rain activities, for now, may also stand a chance to witness moderate to heavy spells.

Places like Mehsana, Patan, Idar, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Bhuj, Naliya, Jamnagar, Kandla, Dwarka, Okha may see good rains between September 26 to 28.

In wake of these rains, Gujarat along with Saurashtra and Kutch which are already rain surplus by 25% and 44%, respectively may further go up.
