Day temperatures drop in Delhi, heatwave to abate soon

April 5, 2016 11:22 AM |

Heat wave in DelhiAs reiterated by Skymet Weather, maximum temperatures over Delhi have witnessed a marginal drop. The slight drop of one or two degrees has brought much-needed respite from intense heat that has engulfed national capital quite early this season.

For the past 2-3 days, the city has been reeling under the grip of heatwave conditions. Though mercury has taken a dip but day maximum are still settling 4-5 degrees above normal at isolated locations.

However, we are expecting a further drop in maximum temperatures on Tuesday, leading to abatement of heat wave conditions.

According to Skymet Weather, the change in weather conditions can be attributed to the change in wind pattern to northerlies over the region since Tuesday. These winds are relatively cooler in nature leading to drop in day temperatures by one or two degrees during next 24 hours.

Moreover, weathermen also forecast chances of light rain and thundershowers in patches over Delhi during next 24 hours. However, chances are very few.

Prior to this, southeasterly winds from central parts of the country such as Vidarbha and Telangana across Madhya Pradesh were reaching up to North India. The maximum temperatures at these places were settling between 42°C and 44°C.

Thus, this heat wave was transmitted through southeasterly winds to northern plains including Delhi.

Let us have a look at the day temperatures across Delhi NCR in span of last two days.
