A brief respite in the form of improved air quality was experienced by the Delhiites who were badly impacted by the thick smog blanket from the last 2-3 days. In fact, Wednesday and Thursday were worse with the deadly air reaching the ‘severe’ level.
However, the smoggy weather that persisted and irritated the Delhiites forcing primary schools to remain shut and exempting people from their usual morning walks has somewhat improved now. Further, this condition is now likely to seek improvement due to wind reversal.
As per Skymet Weather, the Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday recorded the visibility dropping to nil between 4 am and 06:30 am. However, the conditions enhanced and the visibility which was 300 m at around 07:30 in the morning scaled up to a somewhat improved 400 m at around 9 am.
Along with improved visibility levels, the smog conditions over Delhi and NCR is also slowly and gradually improving. This as per the weatherman at Skymet Weather is all accredited to the light winds that have commenced during the early morning hours that has made the mornings cool.

Due to this, the pollution levels and smog conditions have improved now. On account of this, the maximums that were settling one or two notches beneath their normal are also expected to scale up though these will remain close to the normal mark.
The weather is likely to remain comfortable during the afternoon hours due to temperatures rising and reduction in smog levels. However, due to the rise in humidity levels during the morning and night hours, the mild smoggy weather will continue to persist.
According to Skymet weather experts, the situation of pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas will improve now. At present, the northwesterly winds are gaining up speed, which will see more improvement by tomorrow.
Moreover, there is a possibility of snowfall in the hills of North India with the effect of Western Disturbances, which will bring cool air from the north-west thereby reducing the temperatures by November 17. Further, Delhi can even brace for some light rains on November 15 that will help in washing away the pollutants from the atmosphere.
