September 26, 2022 5:58 PM |

Delhi and its adjoining areas have been seeing unprecedented and incessant rains for three days straight, almost non stop. Starting Thursday and going up till Saturday. Yesterday saw some respite with only light rains in some parts of the national capital.

With this, it looks like the Monsoon has nearly concluded for Delhi, however the withdrawal process for the national capital will take some time. Talking about the monsoon so far, the month of June so deficit rainfall for Delhi while the month of July had excessive rains for the national capital.

As far as August is concerned it was again a poor month in terms of rains while the second half of September resulted in Delhi catching up to the deficiency that was observed in the month of August. Delhi had a deficiency of about 30 percent has come down to 17 percent, within the normal category.

Palam saw 185mm against 117.4 mm, while Safdarjung saw 156.2mm against 128 mm, thus both observatories saw excess rains in this month. Much of humidity was there in the air with some misty morning today and shallow fog in some patches. These are indications that rains will cease and result in the withdrawal of Monsoon very soon.
