Delhi sees a rather pleasant evening, with a drop of 7 degrees in an hour

Delhi Weather

As forecast earlier by Skymet, Delhi is seeing gusty cool winds and dust storm activities later this evening. A few isolated areas also saw some very light drizzle. Skymet had forecast a similar pattern for Delhi on June 5 and 6 with dust storm and light rains.

The intensity of dust storm remained mild. Delhi reported a fall of seven degrees in temperatures within a span of an hour (from 43 degrees at  6:30 pm to 36 degrees recorded at 7:30 pm). This definitely brought about some relief from the ongoing heat in the capital region. People returning from their offices got to rejoice the weather most of all.

This activity occurred in the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation which was over Haryana induced by a Western Disturbance back in Jammu and Kashmir region.

Not just Delhi, adjoining states too saw intense weather in the form of thundershower and hailstorm activity later in the day today. Parts of Haryana like that of Panipat reported some good hail. It was a similar activity which led to the blowing of cool winds over the Delhi region.

After a spell of an intense heat wave for days together, this mild dust storm accompanied by light rains has led to pleasant weather over the national capital once again.

We now expect the Cyclonic Circulation to fade away gradually. By tomorrow the weather will clear up over Delhi and the temperatures will start increasing once again. These upcoming hot weather conditions are likely to persist until June 10.

Thereafter, a fresh Western Disturbance will affect the Northern Hills, leading to some induced weather activity back in the Plains yet again. So, we expect another spell of dust storm accompanied by thundershower and rains on June 11 and 12 over Delhi.
