Dense fog for prolonged time to disrupt life in Delhi

January 8, 2015 10:27 AM |

Dense fog in Delhi It was the deserted roads in the morning and traffic jam at the moment. The white blanket of fog is creating quite a stir.

Due to very dense fog, national capital and several places in Delhi are still witnessing visibility of just 50 meters. In the absence of chilly winds, the fog is expected to stay for a prolonged period of time, leading to traffic snarls. While 20 flights have already been delayed, more are likely to face the wrath of the foggy conditions.

While many blamed the fog for their absence from offices, others are still waiting for fog to relent. “I woke up in the morning and looked out of my window. I could not see a thing. I just called-in sick and could not gather courage to step out in this foggy morning,” explained Shilpi Rajvanshi, resident of Delhi.

In morning, Palam recorded temperature at 8°C and it has not observed any change yet.

Day temperature is expected to be below normal by 6-7°C, indicating the persistence of cold day conditions in the city.

Persistent dense fog for last two days pulled down the day temperature to 13.1°C on Wednesday, even below than the temperature of popular hill station Shimla. The lowest of the season, temperatures are expected to dip further. The unrelenting fog is likely to start fading after noon only.
