Dense fog in Delhi, North India reported in pockets

As predicted earlier, dense fog has been reported from various parts of Delhi including Model Town, Vikas Puri and Palam. The visibility at Palam was 300-400 meters at 6 am but dropped to 200 meters at around 6.30 am. And though, the runway visibility at the Palam airport was reported to be around 800 meters, over 15 fights were delayed and about 3 cancelled till 7 a.m. As far as the chill factor is concerned, the minimum temperature recorded at the Palam observatory was comfortable at around 9°C.

Meanwhile, fog in North India has been a little worse today with many places like Amritsar and Chandigarh in Punjab, Lucknow and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Gaya in Bihar observing very dense fog. The visibility in these cities dropped to nil, severely affecting normal life.  Agartala in Northeast India also observed very dense fog with visibility dropping below 50 meters. Fog has been a common occurrence in Agartala in the last few days.
