Dry spell to continue over Rajasthan

August 8, 2023 8:53 PM |

The state of Rajasthan has been recording almost no rains for the past few days and it seems like the dry spell for the state is expected to extend even further.

Most parts of Rajasthan including the western and northern as well as the eastern regions are expected to remain dry, however, there may be some light rainfall on the southern side of Rajasthan which borders the state of Gujarat. This will be on account of a cyclonic circulation which is over extreme West Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Pakistan drawing moisture from the Arabian Sea.

These rains will be just about a sprinkle about a mm or two and nothing more. Other parts are expected to remain dry. Due to continuous rains in July, both regions of east and west Rajasthan continue to remain surplus. In fact, west Rajasthan is surplus by a hundred percent.

However, with this dry spell, the surplus may get consumed gradually. Temperatures are above normal over these parts and will remain so in the coming days. A dry spell will also be seen because the Monsoon trough is far to the north, with no active Western Disturbance. The Circulation is too mild to be able to give rains over the entire state.
