Dry Weather Conditions To Continue Over Rajasthan

August 15, 2023 7:35 PM |

Dry weather conditions are likely to continue for the state of Rajasthan.  Surplus rainfall accumulated earlier will slowly and gradually get consumed. Prolonged dry spell may lead this status to below normal by August end. Monsoon showers seem to be too little and too far for the entire state. July and August are the core monsoon months for the state. Earlier, normal date of withdrawal of monsoon was 01st September which now has been revised to 08th September. The window of active monsoon conditions appear to be shrinking now. There is no likelihood of any immediate uptick in the weather activity. The absence of clouds and rains is leaving the air dry and rise in the day temperatures.

The monsoon trough is running north of its normal position. No active western disturbance is likely in the next few days. Warm and dry conditions are likely to persist over most parts of the state. The western half is likely to experience rather parched conditions for a longer duration. The monsoon system is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal anytime soon.

Though the weather system as such will not travel to the state, it may oscillate the monsoon trough. Northeastern parts of the state can expect light rain. Alwar, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Dausa and Swai Madhopur may receive light rain during late hours today. Movement of the trough may result light and patchy rains over southeastern parts covering Kota, Sikar, Bundi, Chittorgarh and neighbourhood between 18th and 20th August. These rains, by no means are going to be adequate for the farmer and alternate arrangements for watering the crops and the field may have to be resorted to, at the earliest.
