One of the strongest active Western Disturbance is going to approach Western Himalayas by today evening. We expect rain and thundershower activities to commence over Western Himalayas particularly over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh tonight.
Gradually, by tomorrow morning, the eastern districts of Punjab and Haryana will also start receiving rains and thundershower activities. There will be a gradual increase in rains by the evening of March 5. This is when many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi NCR will start receiving rains. Few rainfall activities are also possible over Northwest Uttar Pradesh. The intensity of rains will also increase over Western Himalayas. By early morning of March 5 and 6, the rain activities will increase further over entire hilly region as well as northern hills.
The rain intensity will be on peak on March 6. This is when rain and thunderstorm activities are likely over a few places of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. Strong surface winds are also possible. Lightning strikes and hailstorm might damage the crops. Rain activities will subside from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, western parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana by March 7. Meanwhile, Delhi will continue to get rain and thundershower activities on the forenoon of March 7. The intensity will be heavy on March 7, particularly over Northwest and West Uttar Pradesh.
